These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to the garage door services provided by North Lift Garage Doors (“we,” “us,” or “our”) and to your use of our website, northliftgaragedoors.ca. By booking our services or using our website, you agree to these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any rights you have under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other applicable laws. Where these Terms and the law differ, the law applies.
1. Our services
We provide garage door repair, spring and cable repair, opener repair and installation, track and roller repair, new door installation, weather sealing, and maintenance in Richmond Hill and surrounding York Region communities. We are an owner-operated business and are licensed, insured, and WSIB-covered.
2. Quotes and estimates
Before any work begins, we provide a written quote that sets out parts, labour, warranty, and the total price. You approve the quote before we start. We will not charge you more than the approved written estimate plus 10%, unless you sign a written change order agreeing to additional work, as required under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
3. Pricing, fees, and payment
- The final price depends on your door’s brand, type, size, condition, and the urgency of the job.
- A diagnostic or call-out fee may apply for urgent or late-evening visits, and evenings, weekends, or urgent calls may carry a surcharge. Any such fee is shown on your written quote before you approve it.
- You pay after the work is finished and the door is working. We accept cash, e-transfer, or card.
4. Booking, cancellation, and rescheduling
To cancel or reschedule, please let us know in advance — at least a couple of hours before your appointment. We will do our best to find a new time that works for you.
5. Your cancellation rights (Ontario)
If we agree to a service in your home and the total price is more than $50, this may be a “direct agreement” under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002. In that case, you have the right to cancel the agreement within 10 days of receiving the written copy, for any reason. To cancel, contact us in writing at info@northliftgaragedoors.ca. This 10-day right does not apply where you have asked us to perform urgent or emergency repairs right away; ask us if you are unsure.
6. Workmanship and parts warranty
We back our repairs with a 1-year warranty on labour and a 1-year warranty on parts (or the manufacturer’s term, depending on the part). The warranty covers both the parts we replaced and our workmanship. If something we serviced fails under normal use within the warranty period, we will return and make it right.
To make a claim, call or text us at (647) 803-3780 and provide your North Lift invoice. The warranty does not cover:
- Damage from misuse, accidents, weather events, or normal wear of parts we did not service
- Work, parts, or alterations made by anyone other than us after our visit — this voids the warranty on the affected part
- Pre-existing problems we identified and you chose not to repair
7. Your responsibilities
- Provide safe and reasonable access to the garage door area
- Give us accurate information about the door and the problem
- Keep people, pets, and vehicles clear of the work area during service
8. Limitation of liability
We perform our work with reasonable care and skill. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific job in question.
This section does not limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under Ontario law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
9. Resolving disagreements
If you are unhappy with our work, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. Most issues are resolved with a phone call. If we cannot resolve a dispute, you keep all your rights to pursue the matter, including through the courts of Ontario. These Terms do not require you to give up your right to go to court.
10. Website use and intellectual property
The content on northliftgaragedoors.ca — including text, images, and our name and logo — belongs to North Lift Garage Doors and is protected by Canadian copyright and trademark law. You may view and share it for personal, non-commercial use, but you may not copy or reuse it commercially without our permission.
11. Third-party links
Our website may link to other websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version.
